Formula 1 held an online vote to decide which pass came out on top of the 10 best overtakes in F1 this year, in which Ricciardo received the most nominations with three. In the runner-up spot, Sebastian Vettel’s pass on the Australian Red Bull driver in China narrowly missed out in the overall vote. But the German Ferrari driver did take two of the top three spots with his double-bluff pass on Valtteri Bottas during the Spanish Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton’s drive to wrapping up the 2017 F1 world title at the Mexican Grand Prix earnt him fourth spot in the vote after winning his tussle against Fernando Alonso in the closing stages of the race. Rounding out the top five overtakes of the year was Kevin Magnussen’s double pass on Felipe Massa, when the pair traded wheel touches, while Esteban Ocon also jumped into the action to overtake the Brazilian.
In sixth place, overall winner Ricciardo saw his second effort impress fans with his late lunge into turn one on Kimi Raikkonen during the Italian Grand Prix.
