The French manufacturer has requested clarification “on the legality of the Haas F1 Team VF-18” with the team refusing to make a further comment on the situation until the stewards hearing which will take place at 18:30 local time at Monza.
FIA race director Charlie Whiting has confirmed the protest focuses on a floor piece on the Haas car. The US team introduced floor updates for the Italian race having debuted them during practice in Belgium last week.
Representatives from both Renault and Haas will be involved in the hearing with the FIA stewards.
Grosjean finished as best of the rest behind the top three teams in sixth place in the Italian Grand Prix with Carlos Sainz Jr securing points for Renault in ninth place.
The results see Haas move level on points with the French squad in the Formula 1 world constructors’ championship with Haas placed ahead on countback.
A further update will follow.
