Sainz confirmed for maiden McLaren F1 test in Abu Dhabi
Carlos Sainz Jr. will drive for McLaren for the first time next week in Abu Dhabi after being confirmed by the Formula 1 team as part of its line-up for the post-Abu Dhabi Grand Prix tyre test.
Sainz announced over the summer he would be leaving Renault after one full season with the team in order to join McLaren for 2019, signing a multi-year deal.

The former Toro Rosso driver will get his first taste of a McLaren F1 car in Abu Dhabi next week after the team confirmed he would be linking up early for the post-season tyre test at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Sainz will feature for McLaren on the Wednesday of the tyre test, with 2019 teammate and F1 rookie Lando Norris completing running on the Tuesday.
Sainz is one of a number of drivers changing colours for the test, with Pierre Gasly (Red Bull), Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Lance Stroll (Force India) and Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) all due to complete running with their 2019 teams early.
