Ricciardo’s completes “once in a lifetime” run in Earnhardt’s NASCAR car car
The outing was a reward for Ricciardo winning his podium bet with McLaren boss Zak Brown, which the Australian achieved by winning the Italian Grand Prix in September.
Ahead of F1’s track action on Saturday, Ricciardo got behind the wheel of Earnhardt’s iconic Wrangler-liveried NASCAR stock car for a special run around the Circuit of the Americas.
Ricciardo, who is huge Earnhardt Sr fan, picked his F1 racing number three to mirror what the legendary NASCAR driver used during his career.
The 32-year-old is using a Earnhardt-inspired helmet design for this weekend’s race in Austin.

Earnhardt’s 1984 car is owned by Brown, who boasts a collection of iconic racing cars in his personal collection.
“My car collection is driven by passion for the sport and the famous, iconic drivers, cars and teams,” Brown said.
“I think motor racing is all about sport and entertainment. We’re fortunate to have two drivers that like to have a lot of fun.
“Daniel is a huge Dale Snr fan and it’s a great moment to celebrate Daniel’s victory, give him an opportunity that’s kind of a once-in-a-lifetime.
“Great to be able to race together and share our mutual passion for the sport around a ride that is iconic and ultimately to put a show on for the fans.
