Alfa Romeo to launch 2022 F1 car after Barcelona test
The Swiss-based outfit has confirmed that its 2022 challenger - the C42 - will run at the opening pre-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya in Spain between February 23-25 in an “interim livery”, before being presented in its full livery for the forthcoming season on February 27.
Alfa Romeo’s official launch event will take place online on the morning on February 27, with new drivers Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou in attendance.
After scoring just 13 points and slipping to ninth in the 2021 F1 constructors’ championship, Alfa Romeo is hoping to capitalise on the regulation overhaul to move further up the grid this year.
Seven teams have now confirmed their launch plans, leaving only Red Bull, Williams and Haas to reveal the date their respective 2022 cars will be unveiled.
So far, Aston Martin is scheduled to be the first team to kick off the 2022 launch season on March 10 when it takes the covers off its AMR22, one day before McLaren presents its new MCL36 challenger.
AlphaTauri will reveal its AT03 on February 14, with Ferrari and Mercedes launching their respective 2022 cars on consecutive days on February 17 and 18, and Alpine unveiling its A522 on February 21, two days before the opening test.
