Williams unveils FW44 F1 car with revised livery for 2022
The team revealed the FW44 on Tuesday afternoon in an online launch from the Williams’ base in Grove.
Williams has opted for a darker blue colour scheme for this year, with a hint of light blue and red.
Williams becomes the sixth team to showcase its new car ahead of pre-season testing which gets underway later this month.
Haas was the first team to launch its VF-22, with Red Bull following suit afterwards albeit only unveiling a show car.
Aston Martin, McLaren and AlphaTauri all launched 2022-spec cars, rather than show cars.
Nicholas Latifi will remain with the team for a third straight season, while Alexander Albon will replace George Russell following his promotion to Mercedes.
Williams enjoyed a strong 2021 campaign as it finished eighth in the constructors’ championship.
It returned to the podium for the first time since 2017 at the shortened Belgian Grand Prix with Russell.
A race before that, Latifi scored his first-ever F1 points at the Hungarian Grand Prix as Williams scored with both cars.
After a season on the sidelines, Albon will be hoping to lead Williams’ continued resurgence and restore his own reputation after a difficult time alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull.
Williams will continue to use Mercedes power units in 2022.
Ferrari is the next team to take the cover off its all-new challenger on Thursday.
Reigning world champions Mercedes’ W13 will be shown to the world on Friday, while Alpine will present its car just two days before the Barcelona test.
Alfa Romeo will run its 2022 challenger with an interim livery during the Barcelona test before officially revealing its colours for the season ahead on February 27.
