Davidson wins opening Brands F3 race.
Carlin Motorsport dominated the first Championship Class British Formula Three Championship race at Brands Hatch today, Anthony Davidson leading home new champion Takuma Sato, these two well clear of the rest of the field. If, as rumoured, the team-mates were driving to team orders to enable Davidson to take second in the points table, Sato looked to be a bit forgetful, hassling the leader until making a mistake in the final laps and slightly losing ground.
Derek Hayes, third in the championship, finished in that position in the race, ahead of Jamie Spence and Matt Davies.

Jaguar Racing's Andre Lotterer failed to start the race, his Dallara ending up in the tyre barrier at Surtees after contact with the Team Avanti car of Matt Davies as they made their way to the grid.
In the opening Scholarship Class race, the two classes in the series racing separately on the tight 1.2 mile Brands 'Indy' circuit, Matthew Gilmore was chased all the way by title rival Robbie Kerr, Gilmore staying clear to take his fourth win of the season.
