A.J. Foyt IV topped the speed chart after both practice sessions for the Indy Racing Infiniti Pro Series on July 26 at Michigan International Speedway, recording a top lap of 39.8217 seconds, 180.806 mph.
Foyt's best lap came during the second practice in the No. 14 Harrah's/A.J. Foyt Racing Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone. He led the first practice at 39.9931, 180.031.

"This is my first time on a 2-mile oval," said Foyt, 18. "It's not really difficult, but then again, I would not really underestimate the track at all. Going at the speeds we're going, you've always got to be careful and be focused on what you're doing."
Series points leader Cory Witherill was second overall at 39.8967, 180.466 in the No. 92 WSA Healthcare entry. His teammate, USAC short-track standout Aaron Fike, was third at 39.9350, 180.293 in the No. 91 Hemelgarn Racing entry.
Actor-driver Jason Priestley was fourth at 39.9790, 180.095 in the No. 7 HomeMed Pharmacy entry. Arie Luyendyk Jr., son of two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Arie Luyendyk, rounded out the top five at 40.0788, 179.646 in the No. 5 Luyendyk Racing entry.
USAC short-track standout Dave Steele made his series debut in the second practice, ending up 10th during the session at 41.1345, 175.036 in the No. 43 Bowes Seal Fast/Hoosier Wholesale Automotive entry.
Witherill leads Foyt, 87-84, in the series points after two races in the seven-race inaugural season of the new Indy Racing League development series. Foyt, grandson of four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt, won the inaugural race July 7 at Kansas Speedway. Witherill won July 20 at Nashville Superspeedway to assume the points lead.
