"We are please to be able to announce that Infineon Technologies North America Corp. has committed to partner with the Visteon/Patrick Racing Team for the 2003 Champ Car World Series season," team owner Pat Patrick said. "Infineon is an outstanding company that has a deep and successful involvement in global motorsports and therefore, is a perfect fit for our team. We look forward to contending for the 2003 championship on behalf of Infineon and all of our sponsors," Patrick concluded.
In addition to assuming the title name of what was Sears Point (now Infineon Raceway), the Munich based group have enjoyed much success in recent years on the motorsports front thanks to their partnership with the all-conquering Audi Sportscar team. Although this current deal with Patrick is on an associate level it may be the precursor to a primary sponsorship deal for the team next year as the squad look to give Servia a teammate.
"Infineon and Visteon/Patrick Racing have a shared commitment to quality in business relationships and a winning performance on the track," said Robert LeFort, president of Infineon Technologies North America Corp. "Our partnership with these top tier organizations for the 2003 Champ Car World Series season is an excellent opportunity to build business relationships and reinforce Infineon's position as a world leading supplier of semiconductors used in automotive electronics."
