Tagliani leads wet Road America test.
Rocketsports Racing's Alex Tagliani produced the fastest time of a busy test day at Road America on Tuesday where the classic Wisconsin circuit produced much of its notorious fickle weather.
After heavy rain thwarted some team's attempts at testing on Monday, Tagliani led 14 other drivers around the scenic 4.048-mile permanent road course in Elkhart Lake, setting a quickest time of 1:44.54secs according to unofficial figures given out by engine suppliers Cosworth to the official Champ Car website www.champcarworldseries.com.

However even the rapid Canadian driver fell foul of the tricky conditions, sliding off the track at Canada Corner on what was scheduled to be his final flying lap aboard his No.8 Johnson Controls sponsored Lola.
"This was the only negative part of the day, because it caused some damage and made it a longer day for the crew," said Tagliani. "Otherwise, it was a fast and fine day."
Newman-Haas Racing's Bruno Junqueira, who is the defending Road America winner, wasted no time in re-acclimatising himself with Champ Car machinery after finishing fifth in Sunday's Indy 500 and set second quickest time on the unofficial list with a best time of 1:44.56secs to edge out defending Series Champion Paul Tracy and his NHR teammate Sebastien Bourdais.
The only team absent from the track on Tuesday was RuSPORT, while Herdez Competition was only running Ryan Hunter-Reay. Rocketsports Racing's Nelson Philippe was present with his No.17 LeasePlan sponsored Lola-Ford but the young Frenchman speared into the tyres and cracked the tub on his very first lap and didn't set a time.
