Dominguez delighted to return.

Mario Dominguez says he is delighted to return to Forsythe Championship Racing for a second season after the team confirmed that he will again partner Paul Tracy in 2006.

The Mexican driver was only confirmed with the team on the eve of the 2005 season after a late switch from HVM but still secured a place on the second row of the grid for the season opener at Long Beach barely a week later.

A fifth place finish there for the catalyst for a season that saw him finish ninth in the standings with a best finish of second in the Grand Prix of Denver and, with the chance to now test ahead of the opening race in Long Beach in April, Dominguez said he was looking for a strong year at the wheel of the #7 Indeck Lola.

"I'm very excited to be back with Forsythe for 2006," he said. "The team was so strong last year and we had fast cars at every event. This year I'm going to be able to do more testing before the first race so that should be a big plus. Champ Car is once again going to be a very competitive series but I anticipate a very successful year for our team.

"Paul's experience is a great asset for any driver. We've had a chance to get to know one another very well and it will be a great feeling to line up on the grid at Long Beach with this team."

Vice president of operations Neil Micklewright said he was pleased to see Dominguez return and admitted that he felt a year with the team would see the Mexican driver impress during 2006.

"His performance under less than ideal circumstances right at the beginning of last year was something of an eyeopener," he said. "He's obviously a very gifted driver, and I'm a firm believer that it takes time to create the relationships and the give and take in any team dynamic.

"During the course of 2005, we were able to forge much stronger bonds with Mario and recognise even more of his abilities than we thought were there in the first instance. For me it's a bit of a nobrainer. I think we've created a relationship; the continuity there is a major plus. We all know him and he knows us, and it's just natural to go forward with this."
