Foyt IV set for third Vision seat.

He is the grandson of IRL legend and team owner AJ Foyt and was praised for his performance as a substitute for Dario Franchitti at Andretti Green Racing in 2006, but it is Vision Racing that seems to have won the services of AJ Foyt IV for 2007.

Embarking on their third season in the series, Vision Racing has enjoyed modest success with Ed Carpenter and Tomas Scheckter, the latter joining the expanded team from Panther Racing in 2006 and claiming their first podium at Milwaukee.

Nonetheless, team boss Tony George is eager for the squad to swell to a three cars for 2007 and Foyt IV is already thought to have signed a deal to compete in a full season alongside Carpenter and Scheckter.

"I've kind of been hounding him (about a ride) for quite awhile," Foyt told the Indianapolis Star. "At this point, I don't even know who the sponsor is or what the car number is."

It would be his fourth season in the IRL, but his first away from Foyt Racing having competed for his grandfather's eponymous team for three years before unsuccessfully attempting to find a berth in NASCAR.

It was originally thought that Foyt would once again employ his grandson to race for his team having already signed Brit Darren Manning for 2007.
