The 92nd edition of the Le Mans race gets underway with Porsche on pole with the #6 car.

Winners of the 2023 race, Ferrari will start third and fourth as the #51 car leads the sister #50.

MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi and the #46 WRT BMW are out of the race after they crashed out just after midnight in the LMGT3 class.

Huge smash for Robin Frijns

The #20 BMW driven by Robin Frijns has just gone into the wall approaching the final chicane.

We still have a yellow zone due to the GT crash, but it's all change in the overall standings as the #83 Ferrari leads from the #5 Porsche and the #50 Ferrari, now driven by Antonio Fuoco.

Big shunt in the LMGT3 class

Big crash for the #54 Ferrari in the LMGT3 class at the Dunlop Chicane.

One of the GT car's went into the gravel after contact with the #47 Cool Racing LMP2 machine.

Double yellows are being waved as two GT cars have hit trouble.

The rain is falling and the #6 Porsche is back in the lead thanks to a brilliant move from Andre Lotterer, but he's just pitted which has given Kubica the lead ahead of fellow Ferrari driver Nielsen. The #51 Ferrari, which was leading, has also pitted.

Correction, the #51 has pitted and is the out-right leader ahead of the #8 Toyota. Rain could be coming in just a few minutes.

The #50 Ferrari pits from the lead and serves its ten second penalty. Nielsen has filtered back out in 10th place.

Ferrari lead again

It's still all action at Le Mans as the #50 Ferrari is back in the lead but Vanthoor and the #6 Porsche are right behind Nielsen.

Bourdais is coming under increasing pressure from Giovinazzi in the #51 Ferrari, after the Italian just moved ahead of the #8 Toyota of Sebastien Buemi. 

The #50 Ferrari will have to serve a ten second penalty at its next pit stop following an unsafe release.

Porsche back on top as first pit stops take place

The #6 Porsche of Vanthoor is back in the lead ahead of Nielsen and Bourdais following the opening pit stops. The #51 Ferrari is down to fifth and a long way behind the lead trio after serving a ten second penalty in the pits.

#15 BMW spins

Marco Wittmann in the #15 BMW has spun out of the top ten but managed to get back underway.

The #46 BMW driven by Maxime Martin at the moment is 13th in the LMGT3 class.

Ferrari 1-2

The #51 Ferrari goes into second spot as Giovinazzi overtakes Laurens Vanthoor. The #3 Cadillac is still fourth but under pressure from former F1 driver Robert Kubica in the #83 Ferrari.

Ferrari on form to start 24h of Le Mans

What a start this has been from Ferrari as they have three cars inside the top five. The #50 leads, Antonio Giovinazzi is third in the #51 machine, and the #83 Ferrari is up 12th to fifth.

Porsche lead with the #6 car on this opening lap but the #50 Ferrari has made up two spots to go second.
