Japanese Motocross champion Akira Narita will race for the CAS Honda team at the seventh round of the world championship, the British Grand Prix, on May 30.
Narita, famous for his flamboyant style, is a regular face on the AMA Supercross and Motocross scene and has also raced in the Motocross des Nations and Bercy Supercross. He will ride a 250F four-stroke in the MX2 class at the Isle of Wight.
The 24-year-old came close to winning a qualification race in last weekends opening round of the AMA 125cc Motocross series, at Hangtown, where he finished second to factory Suzuki rider Broc Hepler.
Narita then followed that result up with a good performance in the opening moto on race day, holding down ninth place in the early stages, before dropping out with a mechanical problem.
"Having worked closely with Yoshi Atsuta and knowing the nature of the Japanese riders I can't wait for Akira to arrive," beamed CAS Honda team owner Harry Ainsworth "He's a talented rider, and he's a fighter who will give 100%.
"It's also nice to have somebody riding the 250F in the MX2 class," he added. "Akira will travel back to Japan this week for a local race, and then head to England for the Grand Prix. The Grand Prix of England is an important event for the team, and we are really happy to be able to add something to that experience."
Narita's Isle of Wight entry will be his only appearance for the CAS team, but they have high hopes for the Japanese - believing that the technically demanding circuit will suit his style.
