Alvaro Bautista, the only full-time Suzuki rider on the 2011 MotoGP grid, may have only finished 13th in the championship - but you voted him seventh overall in the Crash.net MotoGP Rider of the Year poll, thanks to an average mark of 6.81 out of 10.
Bautista's second season in MotoGP began disastrously with a broken femur during practice for round one in Qatar. After making an early return - the Spaniard missed just two races - Bautista went on to claim three top-six finishes and matched his career best fifth place from 2010.
Bautista also qualified fourth at Phillip Island, traditionally the GSV-R's worst track, which became a memorable front row start after Jorge Lorenzo withdrew from the race. However Bautista's final championship position was negatively influenced by crashing out of four races, including while trying to hold onto fourth place at Motegi.
No rider in the 2011 Crash.net MotoGP Rider of the Year poll gained more places relative to their championship position than Bautista, who is moving to Gresini Honda for 2012.
