Hayden a frustrated spectator.
Nicky Hayden was a frustrated spectator at Estoril today when, after lengthy consultations with medical experts and Repsol Honda team members, it was announced that the American wouldn't be participating in the Portuguese GP.
The 23-year-old fell from a Supermoto bike last Saturday and broke his right collarbone. He has been under the care of Dr Costa's team since the incident in an attempt to try and ride this weekend - but will now return to action in Motegi, Japan on September 17.

"Of course I'm really disappointed but there's nothing I can do," he shrugged. "I've been looked after really well but I'm not 100% fit. I would have liked to give it a go to see how it felt, but that's how a racer thinks.
"The team view is that it is better to be as fit as possible for Motegi and for the rest of the season - I respect that and I guess they are probably right," he added.
Hayden's Repsol Honda team-mate Alex Barros qualified a provisional third this afternoon.
