Picture flashback: 1993 British GP pile-up.

With over a week to go before the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello marks the end of the MotoGP spring break, Crash.net has searched the archives of its Motorcycle Grand Prix picture supplier Gold and Goose for some exciting image flashbacks.

This is one of the pictures that caught our eye; it shows triple 500cc world champion Wayne Rainey leading the 1993 British Grand Prix (far right of pic) while a spectacular pile-up takes out Mick Doohan, Alex Barros and Kevin Schwantz behind him.

With over a week to go before the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello marks the end of the MotoGP spring break, Crash.net has searched the archives of its Motorcycle Grand Prix picture supplier Gold and Goose for some exciting image flashbacks.

This is one of the pictures that caught our eye; it shows triple 500cc world champion Wayne Rainey leading the 1993 British Grand Prix (far right of pic) while a spectacular pile-up takes out Mick Doohan, Alex Barros and Kevin Schwantz behind him.

The accident occurred when Doohan's Rothman's Honda tagged Barros (#9), sending both to the ground and launching Schwantz over the handlebars. Luca Cadalora (#7) managed to escape the mayhem ahead and would go on to win the race after controversially passing team-mate Rainey in the closing stages.

Meanwhile, fast forward 12-years and Barros sits fifth in the 2005 MotoGP World Championship standings as the only rider to have beaten Valentino Rossi so far this season.
