The award was announced at a ceremony in Milan, Italy on November 1, as part of the 23rd International FICTS Sport Movies & TV Festival 2005.
FICTS - the Federation International Cinema Television and Sportifs - is backed by the International Olympic Committee and is the largest sport film television and documentary festival of its type in the world. It is held over six days with an audience of over 200,000.
Previously Troy's Story won 'Best Feature Film' (International section) and received the Grand Jury Prize for 'Best Documentary' as part of the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival, in May 2005.
The latest award is the first since the tragic death of Troy's Story co-director, William Mather-Brown. "Will would be over the moon with this news," said Aaran Creece, co-director and long-time friend of Will's. "Our little labour of love keeps going from strength to strength."
Troy's Story was nominated in the 'Documentary Great Champion' section, where the top award Guirlande D'Honneur went to Mike Horn's Le Voyage Interieur (Germany).
Meanwhile, after three-years in MotoGP - firstly with Ducati Marlboro and then Camel Honda - former World Superbike champion Bayliss will return to WSBK, with Ducati, in 2006.
