Pramac goes with Silva.

Despite an impressive debut performance at Laguna Seca, Chaz Davies has missed out on the chance to extend his run in MotoGP after the Pramac d'Antin Ducati team confirmed that Ivan Silva will replace the injured Alex Hofmann in the Czech Republic next weekend.

Hofmann picked up a hand injury during practice at Laguna ahead of the United States races when he was hit by Tech 3 Yamaha rider Sylvain Guintoli at the top of the corkscrew, with Davies getting an unexpected call-up as a result.

The young Briton finished just outside the points in 16th place after mechanical issues forced him to make an unscheduled pitstop but will now be able to continue with his commitments in the AMA at Virginia next weekend, with Silva instead making his first outing of the MotoGP season.

Next weekend's race will mark the second successive season Silva will compete at Brno, having replaced Hofmann last season when he was called into the factory Ducati team in place the injured Sete Gibernau.

"I am happy to have the possibility to run in MotoGP again, especially this year where we have at our disposal the best tyres and bike of the moment," Silva enthused. "During the entire season, both Bridgestone and Ducati have shown to have very good qualities and competitiveness, so for this reason, I am honoured to ride the Desmosedici in Brno this weekend. I will do the best I can to contest a good race."

With Hofmann more likely to return to action at Misano next month, team boss Luis d'Antin said he was happy to bring Silva into the line-up, adding that he was hopeful of a good weekend from Alex Barros on the sister bike, the Brazilian now fully recovered from his own injury.

"After the summer break we start again at Brno determined to recover points we lost during the last two races," he said. "Unfortunately, Alex Hofmann will not be able to ride, so we decided to line up with Ivan Silva. While Alex Barros has recovered from his recent hand injury and I'm sure he will do a good race this weekend."
