Workington secured the match in Heat 13 but Sheffield kept on fighting, knowing that there will be a bonus point at stake when the teams meet again at Owlerton on Thursday, and an improved Ricky Ashworth took a double-points win in Heat 14.

The ending of that race, though, was marred by a fall for Canadian youngster Kyle Legault after the chequered flag, the Tigers reserve being taken away for treatment to Whitehaven Hospital for a foot injury.

Early suggestions are that he may have broken a bone in his foot and that surgery may be needed to correct the damage.
