It transpired that Luke's injuries were very serious and included two cracked vertebrae and heavy damage to the muscles and tendons around his right knee. This will ensure a lengthy absence from the Elmside Raiders side and could even put an end to his injury riddled career.

In the meeting proper, the Rye House Silver Ski Rockets totally outrode their visiting opponents from Kings Lynn to maintain their position at the head of the table.

In spite of the 25 point victory many of the races were highly exciting with the Rockets often passing the visitors with daring outside swoops or, particularly
by Robson, inside charges leaving everyone gasping.

Both Stuart Robson and his partner 18 year old Edward Kennett were unbeaten and but for a fracas in heat 9, Neath would have joined them. The heat 9 incident, with the Rockets well in the lead 33-16, saw the visitors
take an un-deserved 5-0 victory after Tommy Allen was harshly excluded following a first bend fall when Madsen (for the Stars) ran Allen into the fence.

In the re-run Madsen was again involved when he tried to stop Chris Neath from completing a neat inside pass only to himself lose control and career through the fence. Although the Rye House star was not at fault the referee judged differently and excluded him to ensure no home rider was able to contest the race.

But that was the only heat success for Kings Lynn and even when they made tactical moves to achieve double points scores the Rockets were able to relegate them to the minor placings.

Tommy Allen made his home debut after his early season absence and although suffering two falls, including in heat 3 while leading, was very impressive.

This was an evening when every home rider won at least one race and the final score flattered the visitors.
