Garry Stead signs for Hull Vikings.

Hull Vikings Speedway has signed Garry Stead as Captain for the 2003 season. Stead becomes the first rider to agree terms as the new promotion of Nigel Wordsworth and John Bailey assemble their team for the new look Hull Vikings.

Stead, aged 30 and currently living in Brighouse, was team captain in 2002 and is looking forward to next season under the new management. He has ridden for Hull since 1999, and is pleased to be back for his fifth season at Craven Park.

"I was very pleased to be asked to sign for Hull again," said Stead. "It's an excellent team with great fans, and I am looking forward to working with the new promoters. They have discussed their plans with me, and Hull Vikings should be a force to be reckoned with next year."

"Signing Garry is an excellent start for us," continued Team Manager, John Bailey. "A couple of other teams were interested in him, but fortunately Garry has placed his faith in us and we must now repay him by signing the best team-mates for him we possibly can."

Nigel Wordsworth, Promoter concluded: "Garry Stead is a very welcome first signing, and gives John Bailey a wonderful start to assembling his new Hull Vikings team. Garry is a very personable young man as well as a gifted rider, and will be very popular with our sponsors as well as the fans. We are all looking forward now to a great season at Craven Park next year."
