Speedway returns to Weymouth.
Football fans can look forward to some unusual half-time entertainment when Weymouth take on Hastings United at the Wessex Stadium on Saturday. Instead of majorettes or a brass band, the home of the Terras will be hosting a speedway demonstration during the interval.
A bike and rider is set to roar around the pitch perimeter on what will be a special day for resort speedway followers. Plans were last month unveiled to bring the sport back to the town with the Terras' training pitch earmarked as the venue for a new track.

Promoter Brian White explained: "From 1pm on Saturday, fans are invited to view plans for the new track down at the Wessex Stadium. There will be an organised tour of the venue and a questions and answer session."
"I'm hoping to see as many speedway fans as possible attending the event and I'll then be urging them to stay on and support the Terras in their important game against Hastings at 3pm."
"This is an excellent opportunity for local speedway enthusiasts to show their appreciation to the directors of Weymouth FC for allowing us this opportunity to re-establish our sport at the Wessex Stadium."
