Mitsubishi Ralliart Europe has strengthened its engineering department with the appointment of Ed Wood as Technical Head. Wood, who will report to chief engineer Bernard Lindauer, joins the team from Ferrari Formula One where he was a senior special projects engineer.

In this newly created role, he will lead Ralliart Europe's design office in its first World Rally Car project.

"I am very pleased to join Mitsubishi Ralliart at this exciting phase" said 33-year-old Ed Wood. "The World Rally Championship, with its diverse conditions and terrain, provides a fantastic challenge to any engineer, and with Mitsubishi's adoption of the World Rally Car format some very strong development opportunities lie ahead. I am very much looking forward to the challenge and working with a team with such a depth of experience and commitment to the sport."

Wood worked for Ferrari from 1998 and was responsible for the development of all chassis related technologies. He also supported the test and race engineering programs. He received his doctorate in engineering science from the University of Oxford in 1995. Prior to this he has been involved in World Superbike and Sportcar programs.

"We are all looking forward to working with Ed," said Mitsubishi Ralliart chairman Andrew Cowan. "He brings a wealth of experience with him from Formula One. As the World Rally Championship become ultra competitive we have to continue to invest in the best people to retain our advantage."
