Monza Fences Off Pit-lane.
Monza has hurriedly added a safety fence to its pit-wall, in the wake of the Indy Racing League tragedy last weekend.
The Italian circuit was reacting to an FIA directive, issued after reports of fatalities filtered through from the Charlotte Motor Speedway in America, which suggested that the pits were exposed to debris should an accident occur. Imola, too, reacted to the news by hastily erecting temporary armoured screens along its pit-wall. Track official, George Beghala Bartoli, insisted that these would be replaced as soon as possible by a permanent structure.
