Mid-America chose J. Lazier for Kentucky.

Jaques Lazier has been selected to pilot the #43 Dallara-Aurora for David Didero's Mid-America Motorsports outfit for the final two events of the 2000 Indy Racing Northern Light Series starting with the Belterra Resort Indy 300 at the new Kentucky Motor Speedway on August 27th.

Lazier started the 2000 season with the Truscelli team but the outfit disappeared after Pikes Peak leaving Jaques, who is currently 20th in the IRNLS points standings, with no drive.

However when Scott Harrington was charged with DUI last week and ruled out of the Western Star Trucks sponsored team for the rest of the year, Jaques was the obvious choice for the team boss, whose son Doug started out the year as the driver for the #43 car.

Lazier's best result this year so far came at Pikes Peak where he brought the Truscelli car home in ninth place while he also finished tenth at Las Vegas and 13th at Indianapolis. The young driver from Colorado is hoping to boost the flagging Mid-America team for the final two races of the year and although Harrington is still contracted to the squad for next season, his patchy record with the law means that if Jaques can produce the goods at Kentucky and then at the season closer in Texas, he may find himself continuing with the team in future events.

The Mid-America team have only finished one race so far this year despite entering all seven races that have been run thus far. The only time their car has made it to the chequered flag was in the season opener at Walt Disney World where the younger Didero brought the car home in 14th place.
